Through September, October and November of 2023 we spend our time wandering across northern Italy. Here’s a summary, map and cost breakdown from our trip.

High on emotions
Starting a trip back always elicits mixed emotions. Planning brings with it that ‘itchy feet feeling’ to get on the road. The journey is never from A to B. There’ll be surprises on the way that bring a whirlwind of emotion which, of course, is part of the reason we travel.

This week, we’re jumping into rural Tuscany with both feet. Is it really filled with beautiful towns, vineyards and olive groves? We find out.

The tale of Italian contrasts and the stowaway
The tale of Italian contrasts and the stowaway shows the contrasting sides of Italy we’ve seen so far. The tourist traps with 1000’s of people which differ so dramatically with the quiet, little villages with a real Italian vibe. Oh and a stowaway joins us as we visit Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Grève in Chianti.

The tale of when life feels like a holiday
After the excitement of Tre Cime our Grand Tour made us feel like we were on holiday. We started by visiting the wondrous cities of Venice and Verona with amazing views and many many tourists. The Grand Tour begins
In the 1700’s, the Grand Tour was chance for wealthy, well to do, young gentlemen to travel to learn about renaissance art and architecture on a voyage of self discovery in Italy. 300 years later, this is our version but with more wine.
